The new ground level around the north side of the Idea Lab is almost complete. As soon as we can install the last few rocks near the east corner, we can finish backfilling and grading the ground.

Two water meters are visible in the bottom left corner of this photo.

Unfortunately, the water meter for the Idea Lab and our neighbor’s house are both right where we need to install the rocks to finish the retaining wall. So we hired our favorite plumber, Mr. Akahane to come out and relocate the meters and run a new main line to the building.

The plumbers showed up this morning and started digging around the meter boxes to try and find the water main.

They found the water main the bad way, by cracking it and filling the hole with water. They have the tools and skills to clamp off the main and easily relocate it to where we want to reinstall the meters.

They also dig up a bunch of abandoned water lines from who knows when. I was disappointed to see so much plastic left in the ground without disregard.

Tomorrow we will install the rocks and begin backfilling before reinstalling the water meters. I hope the ground will dry out a bit by then.
