Today was Children’s Day Kodomo no hi in Japan and Hannah and I wanted to do something special for the kids today so we prepared a picnic lunch and headed out to our favorite picnic site in Ichinose Meadow.
The weather was amazing today and we sat under two big Japanese larch trees and shared a meal that ended with a beautiful chocolate cake.
After the picnic, I took the kids for a little hike while EZ went to a piano lesson and Hannah roasted some coffee for a last-minute order from a local cafe.
We hiked from Todaihyutteguchi to a viewpoint and then on to Todaihyutte Tokyo University mountain hut, which is a nice distance for kids and offers some wonderful views of Norikura Kogen along the way.
We ended our day by driving up to the Sanbondaki parking area which is the top of the ski resort where we found a little snow to slide around on.
